‘BAYANING PEPE’ PREMIERES AUGUST 17 @ SM MANILA CINEMA 9!


LLOYD ABELLA‘s very first indie outing  ‘BAYANING PEPE’ , a Carlos Morales’ Film that traces back into the younger years of National Hero Jose Rizal  premieres on AUGUST 17, 2012 ; 6p at SM Manila Cinema 9. The film will also have a two day run starting August 18 & 19 at SM Manila Cinema 10 ; Screening @ 10a to 10p.  Lloyd plays Pepe’s elder brother ‘Paciano‘.  The movie  stars Joseph Bitangcol, Sharmaine Suarez, Jao Mapa, Jane Oineza, Christopher Roxas, BJ Go.

Notes :‘BAYANING PEPE’  (Ang Pagpanday Ng Isang Bayani) is  one and a half hour epic on the life and struggles of poet and patriot “Pepe” that narrates his childhood. That even in his youth advocated political ideas ahead of the time and became remarkably educated.

“Pepe” made notable contributions to Philippine literature. He openly criticized Spanish colonization of the Philippines and spoke of freedom and citizen rights, issues that brought on the ire of the authorities. More that those achievements, this film focused on the journey of “Pepe’s childhood” to a remarkable “Jose”. This Independent film foregrounds the portrayal of Joseph Bitangcol (Pepe), Sharmaine Suarez (Teodora Alonzo), Jao Mapa (Francisco Mercado Rizal), Jane Oineza (Leonor Rivera), Carlos Morales (Gov. Heneral), Christopher Roxas (Luis Taviel) and Mosang (Yaya of young Pepe).
